For those who want to help out directly with post-quake relief, Damian Penston is creating a website for people to sign up to host refugees in Tokyo. He needs some help putting it together, so if you know anything about web design and / or speak both Japanese and English, let him know that you can help. He’s also compiling a list of people who want to volunteer which will then be given to aid organizations. Send him your name, contact info, location, kind of volunteer work you’re able to do, and days / times you can volunteer.

Rescue Japan is a non-profit group that is collecting essential items for refugees and delivering them directly to shelters in the north. You can donate money or take goods to one of their drop-off locations.
It’s been a week. Search and rescue is over, and the north moves into the recovery phase. I’m in Kyoto getting my head on straight for a few days but will continue to update and provide information.
